Hello, and welcome to "Philomena Cunk's History of Garoa Hacker Clube."

"A bunch of boys in their basements"

Today, we'll be taking a deep dive into the fascinating history of one of Brazil's oldest hackerspaces.

First, let's start with the name: "Garoa". Now, some of you might be thinking, "Philomena, what on earth is Garoa?" Well, my dear viewers, Garoa is actually a Portuguese word that means "drizzle." And why, you may ask, did they choose this name for their club? Well, I'm not entirely sure, but I'm sure it has something to do with the club's ethos of quietly tinkering away at code, just like the gentle drizzle falling outside (if they lived in cold ass Europe).

Now, you might be thinking that hackers are all just a bunch of teenage boys sitting in their basements, but Garoa Hacker Clube is anything butt. Founded in 2011, this club is made up of a diverse group of hackers, from engineers and programmers to artists, pot-heads and musicians.

But what exactly do they do? Well, as you might expect, they spend a lot of time hacking away at computers and software, but they also host workshops, macarronadas, talks, and events for anyone who is interested in learning more about hacking culture. And they do it all for free! That's right, Garoa Hacker Clube is a non-profit organization that relies on the generosity of its members and supporters to keep the lights & LEDs on.

But it's not just about hacking for the sake of hacking. Garoa Hacker Clube is also deeply committed to software freedom and the principles of transparency. They believe that the tools we use to communicate and create should be available to everyone, and they work tirelessly to create and promote sharing of software source code & hardware design specs.

And it's not just a local phenomenon, either. Garoa Hacker Clube has gained international recognition for its work, and its members have been invited to speak at conferences all over the world.

But perhaps the most impressive thing about Garoa Hacker Clube is its longevity. In a world where everything seems to move at the speed of light, Garoa Hacker Clube has been quietly chugging along for over a decade, inspiring and educating countless hackers along the way, while also attracting a fair amount of douchebag misogynist crypto-cunts.

So there you have it, folks, the story of Garoa Hacker Clube. A group of passionate hackers who have been making a difference in the world; And who knows? Maybe one day, you'll be inspired to pick up a keyboard and join the drizzle.
